![]() This drove residents out of the area and the good times were on hold for a decade. The area thrived until the 1960s, when the city proposed to build a highway right through the neighborhood. This brought a lot of activity to the area, to the point where some historians call the area “one of the earliest major regional shopping centers”. Towards the end of the 19th century, the city of Atlanta constructed street cars just south of where Little Five Points is today. The original fifth point was the old Seminole Avenue, although some people today consider McLendon Avenue to be the new fifth point. The points are made up by Moreland Avenue (north/south) while two others are created from Euclid Avenue (northeast/southwest). Little Five Points’ name refers to the intersection in the middle of the neighborhood. Where did Little Five Points Get its Name?
